# Pkg.add("SymEngine") fails

Installing SymEngine fails with the following error on Julia 0.6, Ubuntu 16.04:

```julia
julia> Pkg.build("SymEngine")

Any ideas, how to fix this error?

You can try retrying as the error message says.

```
HTTP errors are often intermittent, and a simple retry will get you on your way.

```

Did you add this channel `https://conda.binstar.org/chria` manually to your conda environment? If so, can you try removing this channel by doing,

```
using Conda
Conda.rm_channel("https://conda.binstar.org/chria")

```

I tried your suggestion, but it doesn’t help:

```julia
julia> using Conda

julia> Conda.rm_channel("https://conda.binstar.org/chria")
CondaKeyError: 'channels': u'https://conda.binstar.org/chria' is not in the u'channels' key of the config file

```

Furthermore, this is an SSL error: "SSLError(SSLError(CertificateError(“hostname ‘[conda.binstar.org](http://conda.binstar.org)’ doesn’t match either of ‘[anaconda.com](http://anaconda.com)’, ‘[anacondacloud.com](http://anacondacloud.com)’, ‘[anacondacloud.org](http://anacondacloud.org)’, ‘[binstar.org](http://binstar.org)’, ‘[wakari.io](http://wakari.io)’”,),),)  
"  
It is not an error saying the web server would be unavailable. I thing this is a bug, but I don’t know where. Any idea? Could anybody else who is using Linux try to install this package and tell, if the installation works?

I tried:

```julia
Conda.update()

```

and it fails with the same error.

Ok, I found a solution. I opened a terminal and removed all but the default channel from my local minicoda installation.  
I used conda config --get channels to list my channels and used conda config --remove channels ‘X’ to remove channel X.  
It is annoying that Julia packages depend on a different package manager, that was installed outside of Julia.

Thank you for your help anyway!
