# Organized package list that includes a synopsys of the package function?

Is there an organized package list somewhere? Esp one that includes a short synopsis of that the package is about? (Who it was written for?)

Ideally with an index sorted by name and one by purpose?

With more than 5,000 packages (or more?) out there, the list would probably need to be maintained by it author(s) or enthusiasts of that work?
