Instead of reviving the [6 year old announcement](https://discourse.julialang.org/t/literate-jl-announcement/10651) thread I thought it better to start a new topic for [Literate.jl](https://github.com/fredrikekre/Literate.jl) release announcements.

Note that all new features, changes, and bugfixes are documented in [CHANGELOG.md](https://github.com/fredrikekre/Literate.jl/blob/master/CHANGELOG.md) so if you are curious about what has happened in the last couple of years please have a look.

## Literate.jl version 2.17.0

Version 2.17.0 was just released ([changelog](https://github.com/fredrikekre/Literate.jl/blob/master/CHANGELOG.md#2170---2024-04-14), [diff v2.16.1…v2.17.0](https://github.com/fredrikekre/Literate.jl/compare/v2.16.1...v2.17.0)).

This release brings support for outputting Quarto markdown documents (see e.g. [[ANN] Native Julia engine for quarto using QuartoNotebookRunner.jl](https://discourse.julialang.org/t/ann-native-julia-engine-for-quarto-using-quartonotebookrunner-jl/112753)).

This feature was a contribution from @svilupp. Thanks!

## Literate.jl version 2.18.0

Version 2.18.0 was just released ([changelog](https://github.com/fredrikekre/Literate.jl/blob/master/CHANGELOG.md#v2180---2024-04-17), [diff v2.17.0…v2.18.0](https://github.com/fredrikekre/Literate.jl/compare/v2.17.0...v2.18.0)).

With this release Literate removes [DocumenterInterLinks.jl](https://github.com/JuliaDocs/DocumenterInterLinks.jl) `@extref`-links (used to reference documentation in other packages) when producing non-Documenter output formats.

This feature was a contribution from [`@musoke`](https://github.com/musoke) in [Literate.jl#245](https://github.com/fredrikekre/Literate.jl/pull/245). Thanks!

## Literate.jl versions 2.19.0 and 2.20.0

Versions 2.19.0 and 2.20.0 are released, see the [CHANGELOG](https://github.com/fredrikekre/Literate.jl/blob/master/CHANGELOG.md) for all changes.

Version 2.20.0 comes with two new features:

- New keyword configuration option `continue_on_error::Bool` that can be used to continue code execution even if errors are encountered. This has been requested by many users (see [#201](https://github.com/fredrikekre/Literate.jl/issues/201)) and implemented by @tamas_papp in [#257](https://github.com/fredrikekre/Literate.jl/pull/257). Thanks!
- Literate now rewrites Documenter-style admonitions when generating notebooks, implemented in [#259](https://github.com/fredrikekre/Literate.jl/pull/259). This make it possible to use admonitions in the source without having to exclude them from notebook output.
