# Lagging while updating pkg, also adding pkg

lagging while updating pkg, also adding pkg  
approx. time: hours (even a days)  
where this come from?

There have been some discussions around slow registry operations, such as

One thing to try: reinstall the main registry:

```julia
pkg> registry rm General

```

The next time the registry is needed, it will be automatically reinstalled. That should also switch you over to the new registry location (no longer a github repo; could be faster).
