Is anyone else having latex rendering issues in VSCode?

Does the following markdown cell render properly for you?

```markdown
### This is another markdown cell with Latex

This equation defines eigenvalues and eigenvectors: $Mx = \lambda x$

another equation:
$\begin{aligned}
(a+b)^2 = a^2+2ab+b^2
\end{aligned}$

```

Well.. I have no idea what is going on. I have been able to reproduce it in Windows, Mac, and Linux.

Strangely VSCodium works fine. Not sure how I can troubleshoot it.

I have latest vscode and jupyter extension.

Any ideas?
