The Julia developers are pleased to announce that v1.9.0-beta3, the third beta version for the upcoming 1.9 stable series, is now available. Binaries are available for download at [https://julialang.org/downloads](https://julialang.org/downloads) in the “upcoming release” section for the following platforms, listed here by [support tier](https://julialang.org/downloads/#supported_platforms):

- Tier 1:
  - Linux x86\_64 (glibc)
  - Linux i686 (glibc)
  - macOS x86\_64 (Intel or Rosetta)
  - Window x86\_64

- Tier 2:
  - FreeBSD x86\_64
  - Linux AArch64 (glibc)
  - Linux x86\_64 (musl)
  - macOS AArch64 (M-series)
  - Windows i686

- Tier 3:
  - Linux PowerPC (glibc)

As a beta version, 1.9.0-beta3 should **not** be considered production-ready. Rather, it’s intended to give users, especially package developers, a chance to try out their code with 1.9.0 prior to a full release. Check out the [NEWS file](https://github.com/JuliaLang/julia/blob/v1.9.0-beta3/NEWS.md) to see what will be new in 1.9.0.

Note that `1.9` on [Travis](https://docs.travis-ci.com/user/languages/julia/), [AppVeyor](https://github.com/JuliaCI/Appveyor.jl), and [Cirrus](https://github.com/ararslan/CirrusCI.jl) now refers to 1.9.0-beta3. On [GitHub Actions](https://github.com/julia-actions/setup-julia), use `~1.9.0-0`.

Let us know in the [issue tracker](https://github.com/JuliaLang/julia/issues) if you run into any issues. Please note that any bugs you may encounter should be posted there rather than being discussed in this thread to ensure visibility to the developers.

P.S. Unfortunately there are no full source tarballs for this release (typically attached as release artifacts on GitHub). They’ll be back for the next release.
