# Julia v1.8.0 has been released

The Julia developers are pleased to announce the release of Julia v1.8.0, the eighth minor release in the 1.x series. Some folks put together a [blog post](https://julialang.org/blog/2022/08/julia-1.8-highlights/) highlighting some of the most exciting new features in 1.8 and we encourage everyone to check it out. As usual, there is also the [NEWS file](https://github.com/JuliaLang/julia/tree/v1.8.0/NEWS.md) for the full set of release notes.
As a minor release, v1.8.0 contains no breaking changes, only new features, performance improvements, and marginal, non-disruptive changes in behavior. Head over to [https://julialang.org/downloads](https://julialang.org/downloads) to download 1.8 for macOS (Intel and M1 processors), Windows (32- and 64-bit), glibc Linux (x86, x86\_64, and AArch64), musl Linux (x86\_64), and FreeBSD (x86\_64).
We encourage everyone to give it a try. Packages can test with 1.8.0 on CI by specifying `1.8` on Travis, [AppVeyor](https://github.com/JuliaCI/Appveyor.jl), [Cirrus](https://github.com/ararslan/CirrusCI.jl), and ([soon](https://github.com/JuliaLang/VersionsJSONUtil.jl/runs/7897584458?check_suite_focus=true)) [GitHub Actions](https://github.com/julia-actions/setup-julia).
