The Julia developers are pleased to announce the release of Julia v1.11.0, the eleventh minor release in the 1.x series. Some folks put together a [blog post](https://julialang.org/blog/2024/10/julia-1.11-highlights/) highlighting some of the most exciting new features in 1.11 and we encourage everyone to check it out. As usual, there is also the [NEWS file](https://github.com/JuliaLang/julia/tree/v1.11.0/NEWS.md) for the full set of release notes.

As a minor release, v1.11.0 contains no breaking changes, only new features, performance improvements, and marginal, non-disruptive changes in behavior. Download 1.11 via [JuliaUp](https://github.com/JuliaLang/juliaup) or head over to [https://julialang.org/downloads](https://julialang.org/downloads) to download manually for macOS (Intel and M1 processors), Windows (32- and 64-bit), glibc Linux (x86, x86\_64, AArch64, and PowerPC), and FreeBSD (x86\_64).

We encourage everyone to give it a try. Packages can test with 1.11.0 on CI by specifying `1.11` on [GitHub Actions](https://github.com/julia-actions/setup-julia), [Cirrus](https://github.com/ararslan/CirrusCI.jl), Travis, and [AppVeyor](https://github.com/JuliaCI/Appveyor.jl). As always, let us know in the [issue tracker](https://github.com/JuliaLang/julia/issues) if you run into any issues.

We are also pleased to announce that Julia 1.10 is now the current long-term support (LTS) release, replacing 1.6. An `lts` specifier is available with JuliaUp and GitHub Actions (and planned for Cirrus), which will now install 1.10.

It has been just about three years since long-term support was [announced](https://discourse.julialang.org/t/julia-v1-7-0-has-been-released-and-v1-6-is-now-lts/72336) for Julia 1.6, replacing 1.0. There have been a lot of internal changes that have made maintaining 1.6 a challenge, plus a wealth of awesome features have been added in the meantime; check out the highlights posts for [1.7](https://julialang.org/blog/2021/11/julia-1.7-highlights/), [1.8](https://julialang.org/blog/2022/08/julia-1.8-highlights/), [1.9](https://julialang.org/blog/2023/04/julia-1.9-highlights/), and [1.10](https://julialang.org/blog/2023/12/julia-1.10-highlights/) for an overview of how far things have come.

With this, Julia 1.6 is now officially unmaintained. Downloads for Julia 1.6 are still available on the [Old Releases page](https://julialang.org/downloads/oldreleases/), alongside all other prior, now-unmaintained releases.
