# Julia v1.10.0-alpha1 is now available

The Julia developers are pleased to announce that Julia v1.10.0 is now in alpha. You can download binaries for the first alpha release, v1.10.0-alpha1, at [https://julialang.org/downloads/](https://julialang.org/downloads/) in the “upcoming release” section. Check out the [NEWS file](https://github.com/JuliaLang/julia/blob/v1.10.0-alpha1/NEWS.md) to see what will be new in 1.10.0. Binaries are available for the following platforms, listed here by [support tier](https://julialang.org/downloads/#supported_platforms):

- Tier 1:
  - Linux x86\_64 (glibc)
  - Linux i686 (glibc)
  - macOS AArch64 (M-series)
  - macOS x86\_64 (Intel or Rosetta)
  - Window x86\_64

- Tier 2:
  - FreeBSD x86\_64
  - Linux AArch64 (glibc)
  - Linux x86\_64 (musl)
  - Windows i686

- Tier 3:
  - Linux PowerPC (glibc)

As an alpha version, this should **not** be considered production-ready. Rather, it’s intended to give users, especially package developers, a chance to try out their code with 1.10.0 prior to a full release. Note that `1.10` on [Travis](https://docs.travis-ci.com/user/languages/julia/), [AppVeyor](https://github.com/JuliaCI/Appveyor.jl), and [Cirrus](https://github.com/ararslan/CirrusCI.jl) now refers to 1.10.0-alpha1. On [GitHub Actions](https://github.com/julia-actions/setup-julia), use `~1.10.0-0`.

Unfortunately the bundled source tarballs that are usually uploaded to the release on GitHub are not available for this version. We expect them to be available for the next prerelease of 1.10.

Let us know in the [issue tracker](https://github.com/JuliaLang/julia/issues) if you run into any issues. Please note that any bugs you may encounter should be posted there rather than being discussed in this thread to ensure visibility to the developers.
