# Julia user meetup in Trondheim?

There is a seminar/meetup two weeks from now in Trondheim which I will be at along with @baggepinnen

I’m sure there are enough people in Trondheim doing interesting work with Julia for a meetup (in addition to the seminar mentioned by @ChrisRackauckas which looks very interesting). I’m based in Oslo, but I will check with my colleagues in Trondheim. Perhaps we could do something over the summer?

The ones I know that are somewhat active here and are based in Trondheim are @trulsf, @Philippe_Maincon1, and @mlhetland . Any interest in a local Trondheim meetup?

Ah nice, thanks for mentioning them 🙂 I would be in for at least checking the organisational stuff so one could in principle do something similar to the Berlin people

Sounds good. I will check also the upcoming seminar and if there are at least a few people interested start a page like the Berlin people and probably meetings after summer, so August as an aim.

I found a short moment to set up an org and a (just basically initialised) Franklin page.

Feel free to write me to join said org and also feel free to already propose ideas how to improve the homepage. If someone has a nice idea for a logo for example that would be great

While I set up the GitHub org and page as well as the collaborative markdown file at

Until now I did not get much feedback. We still need a good idea for a room for example, but besides that a meeting in September would be useful if we have maybe 10 people or so that would show up?

Idelfonso should be able to book rooms of the right size. Message him and Vinicius at NTNU (I assume you met them back in June?)

Sure, during the day that is not a problem, but after 4pm or 5pm you need an access card to enter the building.  
Booking the rooms, I can do as well.

Just to revive the topic a bit:

Until now I have not yet gotten any response of other people interested in starting a user group. If so – the homepage is there we can easily start, I can check for rooms at NTNU, but I think it only makes sense if we are at least 5 people or so.

Hei folks,

I just came across this nice thread. Idelfonso and me are again organizing some Julia related seminars at NTNU in September from 17th to 20th when Chris is coming for a visit.

Maybe it would be nice to have a meetup in any of these days? We can prepare and spread a flyer calling for the meetup so more people get encouraged to go as well.

That would be great! I can create an event in MeetUp page - the day depends a bit on the other seminars, but we can figure it soon. Any ideas about place to hold it? Having a happy hour right after would be nice 😅.

Great, sure we can decide once you know when it fits. I can also announce it on the page I created ([https://julia-users-trondheim.github.io](https://julia-users-trondheim.github.io)) – wanted to get back to trying to that and maybe start something monthly.

For the place my ideas would be depending a bit on

- NTNU rooms are nice, but later in the day (starting 16.00) you need an access card – so should we do that on campus or in town?
- On campus I could book rooms, sure
- if we would not have the water cut off in our offices Sept 16-19 we could have even used our coffee room from IMF (13th floor, sentralbygg 2); but that always needs a card to access (I could check for an exception for an evening maybe). But with the water cut off, this would have to be on the 20th I think.
