It looks like I didn’t fully understand the performance implications of const and other things to the JIT. As I had just watched the conference talk
by Erik Engheim, I may have been lulled into thinking everything would just work out without additional “annotations” which seems not the case.
Again, I appreciate all the helpful comments and friendly community. It looks like I’ll soon be able to know Julia as my friend. Thanks!
