I’m trying to use BinDeps in AMD.jl with Julia 0.7 stable. The package looks for libamd, which ships with Julia but isn’t versioned. I wrote the simplest build.jl:

```julia
using BinDeps
@BinDeps.setup
libamd = library_dependency("libamd")
@BinDeps.install Dict(:libamd => :libamd)
```

BinDeps is installed. However:

```julia
julia> import Pkg
julia> Pkg.build("AMD")
  Building AMD → `~/.julia/packages/AMD/ROVkE/deps/build.log`
┌ Error: Error building `AMD`:
│ ERROR: LoadError: ArgumentError: Package BinDeps not found in current path:
│ - Run `Pkg.add("BinDeps")` to install the BinDeps package.
# etc...
julia> Pkg.add("BinDeps")
  Updating registry at `~/.julia/registries/General`
  Updating git-repo `https://github.com/JuliaRegistries/General.git`
 Resolving package versions...
  Updating `~/.julia/environments/v0.7/Project.toml`
 [no changes]
  Updating `~/.julia/environments/v0.7/Manifest.toml`
 [no changes]
julia> Pkg.build("AMD")
  Building AMD → `~/.julia/packages/AMD/ROVkE/deps/build.log`
┌ Error: Error building `AMD`:
│ ERROR: LoadError: ArgumentError: Package BinDeps not found in current path:
│ - Run `Pkg.add("BinDeps")` to install the BinDeps package.
# etc...
```

Any ideas?

Thanks!

Put `BinDeps` in the `REQUIRE` file.

It already is in the REQUIRE file (in my local dev version).

Could you upload that to a branch so I can test.

Well, for some reason the issue went away. It’s probably my lack of understanding of how the new Pkg works. Sorry for the noise.

However, BinDeps doesn’t discover the libamd that ships with Julia. Is there a way to steer it in the right direction? I’m basically following the advice in [https://github.com/JuliaLang/julia/issues/26557#issuecomment-374963443](https://github.com/JuliaLang/julia/issues/26557#issuecomment-374963443).

Hi Kristoffer,
I am new to learn Julia and have a similar issue with BinDeps. Just wonder how to add BinDeps in REQUIRE file and what REQUIRE-file is?
