# I'm quitting as Pluto.jl maintainer 👋

Thank you for making Pluto.

In 2025 I was doing my last semester of Engineering MSc at University of Twente, Netherlands. It was quite difficult to live outside of France for a semester, I remember having a hard class about sensor calibration.

We had to compute metrics about an accelerometer, but the measurements were inperfect. The teacher gave a python script to inspect the data but it was almost useless. At that point I decided to spin up a pluto notebook with makie. Ten minutes later, without AI (that wasn’t really a thing for students in January 2025…), I had a working visualization of the situation, with sliders and the dynamic cells of pluto.

Another 20 minutes later the homework was essentially done. I graduated in October 2025 and I started a PhD, where I use pluto a lot.

You’ve made history in shaping #julia for the better. If MIT and other institutions have used #pluto, I cannot think of a better endorsement of the quality work you do. May you have wilder adventures wherever you set foot; I’m sure you have still a lot to offer the computing world. Dank je wel, en tot ziens! 😉:juliaheartpulsing:

Joining a bit late in the discussion but I also wanted to thank you wholeheartedly @fonsp for creating Pluto.  
While I did venture into julia a bit before Pluto was a thing, it really is thanks to Pluto that I managed to convice my managers at work to use julia. It has also been my first introduction to open-source contribution and I will always be very grateful for that! ❤

I already knew since a while about your decision to go and I fully understand. Enjoy your new adventures and hopefully you’ll come back from time to time to see the new amazing things happening in the julia world 🙂

Thank you for you contribution. I don’t post much here, but I reach for Pluto on a weekly basis. Pluto makes it so easy to get something going and to share the results with colleagues - and makes it fun 🙂

Dear Fons,  
I must say that i really loved your work on Pluto. It is one of the best things in Julia for me and its interactive capabilities are unmatched. I have showed some of my Pluto Notebooks to my friends and they were blown away with it.

I really really loves it modularity and interactiveness. Saved me several hours going through other methods. Your contribution will never be forgotten. May god bless your life for it : )
