# How to tag a new release for a package?

I am unsure of the best way for the owner of an already registered package to release an updated version. Is it sufficient to commit the changes, push them to origin/master and do

julia\> PkgDev.tag(“MyPackage”)

(assuming you just want to bump the patch version number)?

By far the simplest option is to use [https://github.com/attobot/attobot](https://github.com/attobot/attobot) instead of PkgDev.

Ok, just saw that my last response from 2017 got upvoted. At this point I would actually recommend [https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hbGKwY\_PWIg](https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hbGKwY_PWIg) as the easiest way to tag a new release for packages 🙂
