# How to record a video with WGLMakie/Atom without live plotting?

I’m using WGLMakie with Atom/Juno to [record](https://makie.juliaplots.org/stable/abstractplotting_api.html#AbstractPlotting.record-Tuple%7BAny,%20Any,%20Any%7D) videos.

Is it possible to record videos without live plotting in Atom?

Sometimes I just want the video and live plotting seems like a drain on resources.

I haven’t figured it out. I switch to CairoMakie sometimes when I don’t need the live rendering.

It seem like your [related question](https://discourse.julialang.org/t/makie-record-without-live-plotting-sleep-false-not-implemented/55991) has some traction so hopefully we can figure something out.
