# How does Julia feel about the GitHub acquisition?

Hello,

Julia rely a lot on GitHub for its package infrastructure ([METADATA](https://github.com/JuliaLang/METADATA.jl), but also some bots such as [FemtoCleaner](https://github.com/JuliaComputing/FemtoCleaner.jl) )

A lot of its package are also hosted on GitHub.

I was wondering how [Microsoft](https://news.microsoft.com/2018/06/04/microsoft-to-acquire-github-for-7-5-billion/) acquiring [GitHub](https://blog.github.com/2018-06-04-github-microsoft/) might impact Julia community.
