# \[HELP\] Problem with git when using ssh-key deploy authentication method

Hi, I have a private github (free) repository and I’m using a deploy ssh-key for authentication. I set up everything as described [here](https://docs.github.com/en/developers/overview/managing-deploy-keys).  
Everything works ok, I can `clone`, `pull` and `push` freely (the deploy-key is for reading and writing).

The problem is that more often than not the `git` command timeout with this error:

```bash
$ git push
kex_exchange_identification: read: Operation timed out
fatal: Could not read from remote repository.

Please make sure you have the correct access rights
and the repository exists.

```

But, if I repeat it several times (without changing anything) it finally works.

The only diagnostic I’m able to do is run `ssh -vvT git@github.com-privtest`, It also works only sometimes.

My internet connection doesn’t seem to have any particular problem, I can work just fine with other public repos.

My main question is: Why does it work sometimes?
