# Hacktoberfest 2021 x The Julia Programming Language

Hey folks, it is that time of the year again, Hacktoberfest! If you want to participate, make sure to sign up as a contributor at: [https://hacktoberfest.digitalocean.com](https://hacktoberfest.digitalocean.com) (who doesn’t love a free t-shirt).

If you want to participate as a maintainer and have your hacktoberfest tagged issues show up here: [https://julialang.org/hacktoberfest/](https://julialang.org/hacktoberfest/) simply add the hacktoberfest label to your repo. It would be great to try and get as many issues as possible tagged (preferably with additional context as to how a new contributor can tackle the issue) so we can bring news folks into the community.

We could also host a hackathon on [https://Gather.town](https://Gather.town) later this month if folks are interested (cc @kslimes).
