# \[GMT.jl\] Text Encoding issue (UTF8)

I’m new to GMT.jl and I am struggling with `text` function.

```julia
using GMT
text("대한민국", fmt="pdf", x=12, y=15, font=12, show=true)

```

Give the following result:

Can anyone help me with this issue?

Seems like something in the pipeline can’t properly handle Hangul 🤔 Do other plotting packages work? If so, it’s probably best to report an issue with the [wrapper repo](https://github.com/GenericMappingTools/GMT.jl).

Unfortunately the case is a bit complicated due to the fact that PostScript (GMT graphics are made in PostScript) does not support unicode. This [example](https://docs.generic-mapping-tools.org/dev/gallery/ex31.html) and [refs](https://docs.generic-mapping-tools.org/dev/reference/postscript-fonts.html#non-default-fonts) in Cyrillic shows that it is possible but I have not experience with this.
