I have to make hundreds of plots and was using GLMakie and the png backend, I was quite disappointed with the Performance, 800 plots took ~1.5h and GLMakie cannot be used with threads. This was on the 1.6 release branch.

I just updated to Julia 1.6-rc1 and all of a sudden I can do the 800 plots in 1-2minutes. What happened here? As far as I can tell nothing else on my system changed, I didn’t even update the installed Julia packages.
