# Failed to precompile OMEinsum

There is something wrong when I am using `OMEinsum`, under Julia version 1.9.2. What’s the reason and how can I fix this? Here are the error report:

It seems your installation of `NNlib` is broken. Try `] instantiate` and report the output of `] status --manifest` if the error persists.

Thanks for your response. `instantiate` reports back there are 4 packages which are not successfully precompiled.

```julia
(@v1.9) pkg> instantiate

Okay, so what is in the manifest `] status --manifest` …?

Have you tried updating if that’s an option? Might run into incompatibilities with old package versions on new Julia versions.

And later, I was trying to create a new environment just for `OMEinsum` and it works. I am thinking is there any better method.

I imagine that solved the issue. The versions of `OMEinsum` and `NNlib` in your environment are over three years old. You can try updating your base environment, and see if that’ll fix things, but I wouldn’t bother.

It is simply not a good idea to install any- and everything into the base environment. Per-project environments are the way to go. Keep only development packages, i.e. Revise, OhMyREPL, BenchmarkTools, Plots,… in the base env.
