# Email notifications

Is there a way to get email notification about replies to my post?

You can set an individual post to “Watching” by clicking on the circle below the post (it either says “Normal” or “Tracking” depending on if you’ve posted in the thread). That will notify you of results.

You can change the default by going to your preferences and setting “When I post in a topic, set that topic to” to “Watching”

You may also need to adjust your email-preferences (little cog when clicking your avatar).

I have “Watching” status, but I just discovered that “Send me email notifications even when I am active on the site” was unchecked and I usually had a few tabs with Julia forums open. I will see if that was the cause.

That might be, to reduce unnecessary e-mail traffic discourse will only send you an e-mail if you haven’t been seen for 5 minutes.

Yes, that was it. I just got my first email notification.
