# Congratulations to VideoIO and Makie maintainers

Quite often in the past I have moaned on here about VideoIO not working to read data from a webcam. I have filed several issues on the VideoIO repository.  
I am very pleased to say that I loaded VideoIO and Makie on a Dell/Ubuntu laptop yesterday and it ‘just worked’ - I could grab an image from the laptop webcam with no fuss.

I have to report that on my HP/Fedora laptop opening the /dev/video0 device does not work - this looks like a permissions errors. Update - on Fedora I probably need to add my uid to the video group.
