# Community/getting involved in NLP in Julia

I’m just starting out in Julia (and programming/open source in general, to a big extent), and I’d love to try to make some contributions and get involved in the community. In particular, I’m working on a degree in Human Language Technology right now, so I feel like getting involved with NLP projects or packages could be a great way to learn about both Julia and the current state of NLP in a more hands-on way.

Is anybody working in this area, or are there some go-to NLP packages out there already? I’ve noticed that the Julia crowd has a big interest in scientific computing and a lot of other really neat fields, but the natural language side of the community (if there is one) seems a little…quieter 😅 Any insights or pointers for where to get started would be greatly appreciated!
