# Can juliac increase julia adoption?

We did consider this, but we weren’t sure about the reverse engineering issues ([link](https://discourse.julialang.org/t/best-practice-using-packagecompiler-jl-or-something-else-for-code-obfuscation-and-extensibility/85806/2)). I believe I recall Jeff Bezanson mentioning this topic while presenting the work on `juliac`, and I guessed that it might offer a proper solution to the source confidentiality issue.
