It currently only runs Python?

Their tools are written in python – python is not running on the d-wave system itself. You could write similar tools in Julia though.

Maybe [GitHub - omalled/ThreeQ.jl: Julia interface to D-Wave quantum annealing hardware](https://github.com/omalled/ThreeQ.jl) (used to be [ToQ.jl: A high-level programming language for D-Wave machines based on Julia | IEEE Conference Publication | IEEE Xplore](https://ieeexplore.ieee.org/document/7761616)) is relevant. I believe I saw presentations using this at HPEC 16.
