# Bad performance of eachline() on STDIN

Whilst trying to search for why the pipe case would be much slower, I found [this discourse topic](https://discourse.julialang.org/t/stdin-stdout-10x-slower-than-file-open/17233/11) which lead to [this GH issue](https://github.com/JuliaLang/julia/issues/29960) and ultimately [this](https://github.com/JuliaLang/julia/pull/30638) (failed) PR. Perhaps it’s worth rebooting given stdin/stdout buffering has come up a a number of times in the past year.
