# Anyone Willing To Talk About Julia To A Meetup?

Hi all,
I’m one of the co-organizers of the Detroit Tech Watch conference. We also do a monthly meetup and we’d love to have someone join us to give some an introduction to Julia. We’re looking for a May speaker (last Tuesday of May) or July or any month thereafter.

Can you tell us a little more about the audience?
- Are these folks who have programming experience?
- Is there a particular area that would be better to focus on (data wrangling, machine learning, etc.)?
- Anything else that may be useful…

The meetup is for experienced software developers. We generally tend to draw folks who are interested in hearing about new technologies and new ideas so a focus on ML might be a great topic.
If it helps you (or anyone else) to decide, several of us like Elixir, a few like Elm and I think most of us are interested in FP.
Please don’t hesitate to ask if I can provide more detail!

I have experience introducing Julia to more of a beginner crowd but I certainly don’t have the credentials to present to this kind of crowd.
In case you don’t know, @viralbshah is a co-creator of the Julia language so to have him speak would be kind of a big deal (and I personally would enjoy attending the event if you are able to share a link) 😉
