Hi all,

Like many academics, I’ve been feeling somewhat behind on my reading lately. Since I was also looking for a personal project to work on, I created [Journalier.jl](https://github.com/phchavesmaia/Journalier.jl) as a central hub for keeping up with the latest papers from my favorite journals.

Fortunately, [Tachikoma.jl](https://github.com/kahliburke/Tachikoma.jl) was already available, which allowed me to build the TUI in Julia as well, rather than turning to Python, as would have been my first instinct.

![usage example](https://global.discourse-cdn.com/julialang/original/3X/4/9/49052d7eb77d7984a39833b6b009fdcfb6913889.gif)

I think the project has reached a reasonably usable stage, and I figured it might be useful to others, so I thought I’d share it here!

Best,

P.

Cool! I see more and more julia “apps”…

One (general) question.. when I type `pkg> app add Journalier`, does this installs the package onto my general environment? I would like to keep it clean… which is the favoured way to do it ? I activate a temp environment? I choose a dedicated folder to create an environment for it?
Of course I would still like to have the `journalier` binary available from the terminal…

One of the benefits of “apps” is that you don’t really have to worry about this: under the hood, `app add` will automatically create a dedicated environment for the app,as well as a “shim” in `~/.julia/bin` which takes care of running the app in this environment. But as a user you don’t need to really know about this, you simply execute the shim and everything works.
