- I want to tag my questions with the name of the package I’m asking about
- I want to follow the tags of some packages

Currently it is not possible to use the name of a package as a tag because

- dots are not allowed, e.g. `Pkg.jl`
- capitals are not allowed, e.g. `Pkg.jl`

I request that those be allowed, so I can tag with package names and follow those tags.

As far as I’m aware, we can’t currently change the set of allowed characters in a tag. Capital letters are allowed, but we use the default setting which only permits the creation of new tags that are all lowercase.

You could ask for allowing `.`s upstream at [meta.discourse.org](http://meta.discourse.org), but requests for other non-word characters have [not](https://meta.discourse.org/t/allow-in-tags/128345) [seen](https://meta.discourse.org/t/adding-a-tag-with-plus-in-it/115549) [much](https://meta.discourse.org/t/add-tags-with-space-and-special-characters/47471) success.
